Winterwood Steps
Battlemap Pack by Scott Docherty (Venger's Decks)
What's in this pack?
This bundle pack includes grid and gridless 40x30 maps with day, night, deep winter, red sky, winter, and animated variants. Deep in the heart of a set of woods caked in snow, an old set of steps leads down into a crevasse in the rock. Around the steps the trees loom over the trail, large roots and boulders making the terrain difficult to move over. The steps look as though they were made rather than having been formed naturally, so there must be something down there, right? Something worth creating steps down to. Something worth...something, right?...
Encounter Hook
Above the crunch of snow under the party's boots, a low howl echoes through the trees. Following investigation, it appears to be coming from a dark crevasse at the base of a set of steps down from the trail. The howls stop as the party nears, but in the silence that replaces the sound, a rustle is then heard in the trees above. Has something flown out from the crevasse, or is something above acting as guard to what lurks beneath?
